Air Logs, 28FEB2013

Logs from February 28th. A little bit of excitement in the evening, as ETHYL16 lost some tire tread conducting a touch & go at Manchester, and was unsure if they had lost the whole tire or even the tire and rim. The recording below is ETHYL16 talking to HAMMER, the Safety of Flight at the command post.

Full screen version of the logs can be found here.

Air Logs, 27FEB2013

Well, Tuesday was busy, and Wednesday was dead quiet. Almost nothing heard at all, and just a few flights passing through. There’s a little bit of overlap in these logs due the fact that Tuesday’s covered midnight-midnight local time, and I’ve switched it up to midnight-midnight GMT. You can view the full-screen version here.

Busy day out there. Large amount of military traffic in general, and neat to catch the Israeli 707 and the Swedish SIGINT plane. To view in full screen, click here.

New Services from AlertNewEngland

I’ve always been more than happy to answer questions related to my hobbies in an effort to help others, and fully intend on keeping that up. With that being said, there are a lot of people asking for my help, and sometimes it ends up amounting to a small problem. For this reason, and to make sure my limited amount of time is being utilized in the most appropriate way, some services will now have a modest price attached. For more information on any of these, email me at steve@alertnewengland.com

Scanners:

Consultation: Need to know which scanner or receiver to buy, and what accessories you’ll need to program it? I’m happy to answer these questions, free of charge. Tell me where you are, and what you want to hear, and I’ll give my recommendations.

Programming: Not sure which frequencies you need, or baffled by how to get them into your scanner? If you already have the scanner, software, and a way to connect the two together, I can provide programming files at a very reasonable price. Simple programming files, i.e. one town for a Uniden DMA scanner, I can do for free. Other files will be priced based on the complexity & number of systems, but I promise pricing will be very reasonable. I can also provide a reference card to go with the programming (Press these buttons to listen to X, for example). Turnaround time would be anywhere from a day to a couple of days, depending on complexity.
Need a little more help than just a programming file? If you can download the software and physically connect your scanner to the computer, we can set up an appointment for me to access your computer via Teamviewer and do all the work.
As a last resort, I can sell you a fully programmed scanner.
For any of the above, email me and we’ll make something work.

Aircraft tracking / PlanePlotter:

This is another topic where I’m always happy to help someone figure it out on their own, but setup can be quite involved, and the learning curve can be a little steep. If you want a fully functioning, real-time plane tracking system, and you don’t want to learn the setup, I can use teamviewer to access your computer and set it up for you. A standard setup will include installing a pre-populated database, country flags, operator flags, custom plane symbols, setting up logs, and charts and outlines for your area, customized to your liking. I estimate that will take between 1-2 hours. If you already have planeplotter up and running, and just want me to do one or two of the items listed above, I can do that, too. I can also make bulk edits to your sqb database (flag all US mil as ‘interested, for example),set up a Virtual Radar Server so you can view the planes over an internet connection, or set up a program to email you when certain flights appear.
For the time being, if you’ve already payed for PlanePlotter and have it set up, I will set you up as a Ground Station via teamviewer for no charge.

To reiterate, I’m always happy to help someone help themselves, for no charge at all. These services are for someone who requires a more in-depth level of help, or who wants a more plug-and-play solution. Since every solution is unique, I don’t want to have a ‘set’ price list – I intend on charging fairly, based on how much effort is involved on my part.

Mode S and radio logs for February 4th. All times are in GMT. Entries highlighted in red were heard on the radio. Scroll waaaay over to the right to view notes, frequencies, etc. First sheet is military only, second sheet is everything I picked up. Heard some air-air from the Swedish Gripens inbound to Bangor from Offutt.
