Small plane crashes on Cuttyhunk Island

After a boat in the area reported a low flying plane that sounded like it was experiencing engine trouble, officers from the Massachusetts Environmental Police responded and reported a small plane crashed in the woods on Cuttyhunk Island around 10:30 Wednesday morning. The pilot, who is believed to be the only occupant, was trapped in the plane and could not be extricated from the wreckage without heavy equipment. Responding officers could not find a pulse on the patient, and CPR was performed. A Coast Guard helicopter responded with paramedics to assist and to medevac the pilot if necessary, but left the scene without a patient on board.

Edit 13:23: Massachusetts State Police have confirmed the pilot was the only person on board the plane, a 1965 Maule Bee-Dee M-4-210.
